TACO Benefit Horse Show Thank you!

5/3/2013

On Saturday, April 27 TACO hosted its first Benefit Fun Show at
Elmwood Farm. The show was a huge success and TACO was able to make a profit of over $500 from entry fees, photography purchases, and general donations.

First of all, we would like to thank Elmwood Farm Equestrian
Center and all of their employees not only for the use of their facilities but also the extra work their employees put in at work to prepare the farm for the show. We cannot thank Elmwood Farm, its owner, Susan Hanner, and her employees enough. Without them TACO would not be possible!

At the show, TACO provided hamburgers and hot dogs free of charge to everyone, while committee members and volunteers supplied side dishes to go along with the meat. TACO was able to raise over $120 in food donations alone, which more than covered the cost of purchasing the food! We would like to thank everyone who contributed to our food table whether in donations or side dishes. A huge thank you to Terry “Duck” Harlow, Patti Harlow, and Myrtle Mote for cooking hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. In addition to the hamburgers and hot
dogs, they cooked sausage biscuits and omelets for the volunteers that were there setting up early.

We would also like to thank Susan Hanner, Sallie Barber, Jessica
Harlow, Stacy Burleson, Allie Burleson, and Renee Bourke for starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning setting up for the horse show, working through the day, volunteering at camp, and then helping until 9pm Friday night finishing set up for the horse show! In addition to those ladies, we would like to thank Teresa Critchfield and Renee Almond for sticking with us well past dark Friday night to
finish setting everything up! These wonderful ladies were back at the farm by 7am Saturday morning to finish preparing for the horse show! Without their wonderful help, dedication, and exhausting hours they put in we would not have been able to pull this off, they went above and beyond the definition of volunteer.

In addition to our host, Elmwood Farm, our chefs, and our great
volunteers- the show would not have been possible without our judges. A huge thank you to Patti Harlow for judging showmanship and the pleasure classes and to Erin Sweeney for judging the dressage
tests.

As always, no matter how many volunteers you
have, a horse show is not possible without participants! We cannot show our appreciation to the participants of TACO’s show enough! Each person that came out to the show played a vital role in its success.

I can’t thank everyone enough, from our hosts, to participants,
to chefs, judges and volunteers… without all of you this would not have been possible! Thank you again for everything you have done for TACO!

Sincerely,
Jessica Harlow
TACO President

On Friday, April 26 the Therapeutic Adventure Camp of Orange
hosted its “Return to the Farm” Spring Day at Elmwood Farm Equestrian Center.

Campers returned to ride their favorite horses, work on quilt
pieces for the Orange County Fair Auction, and work on “Spring Cleaning”with horses and around the barn!

We would like to thank Susan Hanner, Cheryl Gamboney, Rhonda
Dowell, and Teresa Critchfield for the use of their horses for TACO’s Spring Day. In addition, a huge thanks to Elmwood Farm Equestrian Center and their employees for allowing us to host TACO at their facilities.

As always, TACO would not be possible without our dedicated
