About TACO
The 4-H Therapeutic Adventure Camp of Orange is a therapeutic riding camp for special needs children in Orange County ranging from ages 9 to 19. It is held at Jim McDonough Cutting Horses at Elmwood Farm, located just outside of the Town of Orange.
TACO offers a week long summer camp in July or August from 8:30am to 12:00 noon. Campers participate in three stations consisting of arts and crafts, horseback riding, and horse education daily. They are also provided with morning and an afternoon snack. At the end of the day, there is also a special presentation for the campers. In the past, we have had motorcycle sidecar rides, Orange County Sheriff’s Office K9 Demonstration, pony cart rides, and various other entertainments for the campers’ enjoyment. TACO's mission statement: "To service special needs youth in Orange County allowing them to participate in horseback riding, allowing them to become more mobile, independent, and receive the benefits of therapy while participating in an acceptable therapeutic sport." TACO's Motto: "Horses Helping Hands, Hearts, and Health" |
