About TACO
The 4-H Therapeutic Adventure Camp of Orange is a therapeutic riding camp for children with disabilities in Orange County. Campers must be ages 9 to 19 and have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We serve children with a wide range of disabilities including, but not limited to Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, and Intellectual Disabilities.
We offer volunteer positions for all areas, so even if you are not comfortable around horses, there is a volunteer spot for you! TACO offers a week long half day summer camp in June. We have three stations for campers to participate in including; arts and crafts, therapeutic riding, and station three which consist of a variety of activities. A daily snack and entertainment are also provided to all campers and volunteers. At the end of the day, there is also a special presentation for the campers. In the past, we have had motorcycle sidecar rides, Orange County Sheriff’s Office K9 Demonstration, pony cart rides, and various other entertainments for the campers’ enjoyment. TACO's mission statement: "To service special needs youth in Orange County allowing them to participate in horseback riding, allowing them to become more mobile, independent, and receive the benefits of therapy while participating in an acceptable therapeutic sport." TACO's Motto: "Horses Helping Hands, Hearts, and Health" |
