Finally a bit of cooler weather!

Today we got a visit from Stephanie's Hero, she will be doing a segment on TACO next week. We also had a visit from the Daily Progress.

In arts and crafts campers decorated Thank you cards for the horse owners and also made "I Spy" bottles.

Horse education was a HUGE hit today, as the campers got to paint on the horses! Each camper was assigned a body part of the horse to put their hand print on. After all of the body parts had been covered, campers enjoyed painting designs on the horses! I think this may have been the highlight of their week!

In the arena, campers kept working hard for their horse show tomorrow! They worked on figure eights, obstacle courses, and guiding their horses to pick up different colored toys off of the side of the ring. Campers also worked on their "posting trot"

Waugh Enterprise came today with motorcycles and sidecars for all of the campers to ride in!

We are all looking forward to the horse show and carnival tomorrow!

We had another hot one today!!

Campers decorated quilt squares for the quilt we will have made to go into the Orange County Fair Auction. The proceeds from that will go to  benefit TACO. Campers also made a paper plate horse.

In horse education the campers learned all about the different types of feed, hay, and nutritional information of horses! They got to reach into the feed bins and feel each type of feed and the different textures.

In the riding arena campers continued to prepare for the horse show on Friday, adding more trotting, obstacles, and "jumps" to their lesson!

The Orange Volunteer Fire Company came out for entertainment. Campers got to dress in turn out gear and also spray water out of the fire hose. It was a HUGE hit!

The Orange County Review also visited the farm today for camp. Their story will be in next week's paper!

All of the "bumps in the road" were worked out by today, but we had some HOT weather! Thank you to all of the volunteers for sticking through it with us!

Today campers decorated their picture frames and made individual art work pieces to be entered into the Orange County Fair. They painted with fruits and vegetables for their individual art work entry.

In horse education they learned about the different breeds, colors, markings and genders of horses!

Campers continued getting their "riding legs" back in the riding section of camp and began trotting today-- their favorite part of camp!

For entertainment Deputy Myers of the Orange County Sheriffs Office and his K-9 Loki, attended camp to preform a K-9 Demonstration. W.A. Hogsten and his arson investigator dog, Quaker also showed the campers an arson investigation!

NBC29 came out to visit camp today and aired their segment on the 5pm news that night. You can find a link to the video and article at http://www.nbc29.com/story/19047832/summer-camp-for-kids-with-disabilities-offers-equine-opportunity

If you are unable to attend camp one day PLEASE contact Jessica Harlow at (540)308-0433 BY 8am!!! You can either text or call-- if there is no answer please just leave a message. I may be busy in the barn. The earlier the better! It allows us to sort out our horses and assignments much easier! Thank you.

First of all, thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers!!!

Today was our usual bumpy road Monday! But it will smooth out tomorrow.

Campers got to decorate name tags and make horse show invitations for their parents during arts and crafts.

During horse education campers got to groom on Cody, their favorite! They also had an area set up that they found the "dangerous" items for being around horses.

During the riding time campers got to get their "riding legs" back on and participated in some fun games.

We had wonderful watermelon for a snack thanks to a local church.

For entertainment campers got horse drawn carriage rides from Chestnut Hill Farm by Bob Brennan and his horses Rosie and Blue. A special thanks to Bob, Rosie, Blue and his assistant Alisa and William Nixon. Along with Pam Prill for taking photos of the carriage rides!

We look forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow morning!!
